I'm a Professional!

I sold my first painting today! So, I guess that makes me a professional artist now... :~)

The painting was a custom request for a friend. And although it took me a while to decide on the direction I would take the painting, when I was done I knew it was the right fit for her. It also led to the start of my "new" collection. The Sisterhood Collection. Here is the featured painting (without the special brooch) - "I am DST".

Printers and Notecards... Oh My...

I woke early this morning with a goal... I created my Etsy Shop weeks ago and still did not have anything up for sell. Thus, the goal - Sell something. Or, at least put something to sell.

Weeks ago, I explored the idea of creating notecards. I made some test samples (well ordered them on Vistaprint) shared the notecards wth friends and recieved some positive feedback. So positive in fact, that I had a few folks asking me when can they place an order...

So, that let me to today. My spontaneous purchase 1. a new printer - that could print high quality photos and 2. some cardstock. And now tonight... I'm burnt out. Or anxious. Of a combination of both. I have no energy to even finish this post tonight. No patience to type about the hell setting up a wireless printer put me through or the jipperness I want to feel because my art is now for sell on notecards. Maybe I will find time to discuss another day... please do take a look at my esty shop - and make it a favorite!!

Jameeka

I know many of you are still waiting to see me paint something other than Black Women with naturals, and I have to admit, when I stare at a blank canvas, I try to tap into something inside me, to find a vision to paint something else, but it's just not in me yet. Jameeka is a bit more unique than the others... she's sporting some chic shades!!

Ivy

I finally finished Ivy... She is wearing a brooch I bought off Etsy... I keep fixing her lips, but "fixing" them over and over still hasn't made it better, so I decided that everyone's makeup can't be perfect! I'm really going to try and make my next personality look a bit more "happy".

Be Natural Mini...

The last two weeks have been busy for me. I did manage to squeeze some time in for painting. One of my new creations is what I'm calling the "Be Natural Mini" (at least for now). I'm thinking with Christmas approaching, I want to think about painting more mini canvas for Christmas gifts...
I also love the idea of turning the Be Natural collection into a line of stationery.

Black Women with Naturals

Now that I have made the decision to share my art work with people that I actually know, the pressure to be “good” has more of an impact on me than I thought it would. But again, I go back to the lesson I learned last week, “there are no accidents in art”.

Anyhow, the question that I have been asked the most is will I "paint more than just Black women with afros?". And my response - "YES, of course I will!!" However, I also need to remind you that I JUST started painting SIX weeks ago. Can I perfect my Black Women first?? LOL While many people are eager to see what else I can paint, I’m comfortable for now, painting my faces! And I need to get through the rest of the alphabet first! Remember, I’m only at “I”. So for now, LCherise will stick to painting Black Women with Naturals…
